The Passion and the pace of business
Remember when you first put your marketing plan together? Remember when you received your first box of business cards with your name and company logo on it, the thrill of excitement when you handed the cards to friends and family, proudly announcing that you were now an "entrepreneur "? There are a lot of important things that are done with the passion with which you started your business.
The passion you had in the beginning was motivational. At first you talked to anyone who knew what you did. It may also be made of the brilliant things like add your brochure or catalog for all invoices and outgoing mail. But as you look back, there seems like you peaked? You've been busy and now you're out of steam? Where did all the business going anyway? Customers used to be everywhere, the phone rings forever.
Now what? The purpose Because you own a small business? You must have this clearly defined so that it can communicate with others when the passion is running high, and yet follow it diligently when the passion seems drained. When you look and say, 'Why?' you only need to review your order - the reason being in business and you can continue to serve others.
The Plan: This is where the "rhythm" of the business comes into play, you must have a formula, a plan, that when applied to your business with the discipline of an athlete in training - organized, finely tuned, perfectly performed every business day of your life - will reward you with a steady growth. I'm talking about the mechanics of how you put the customers, as service when they have done business with you once, so as to keep them faithful who prefer to fight than switch ``.
To succeed in business must be clearly identified activities that are your money making daily tasks so you do not get on track with your busy work. For example, you might have on your list the following:
* Contact 5 new prospects every day
* Call 5 previous customers every day
* Create a new covenant relationship
* Follow-up of 2 current alliance relationships
* Add 5 new link swaps to website today
With a list like this - if you're not just be business as usual, you can give yourself the day if you make the list. It 'amazing what the transformation will go through if you create a list like this. Your business will grow every day and you spit out 'the glooms' more often then you might realize just by going through the motions.
Remember, when the passion of a small business seems to go, look at your goal, and set the pace of your plan to work for you. When success is constant will create a new passion....
