How to change an emotional state
Many times we happen to us as "engaged" in our thoughts, as if we were only just a "mind" ... No way ... The power of awareness, make conscious our physiology, our body, is a path to the status change , to change our emotions ... using our body, our physiology. Why? ... simply because emotion is created by the movement, what we feel is also the result of how we use our bodies ...
Even small changes, as some gestures or facial expressions, change the way we feel at every moment .. and this will lead to changing the way we think and act.
Every emotion you feel has a defined physiology related to that emotion: a stand, one way and rate of breathing, facial expressions and movement patterns ...
In NLP, as well as in other disciplines for personal growth, physiology is a key ...
Learning NLP is not just about making contact with the submodalities or resources or mental experiences ... The NLP also helps to sharpen the senses, leaving your mind and proposes to make contact with your body, watching all these indicators 'outsiders'.
Once you learn to use your body when you're in certain emotional states, you can re-experience or avoid those states, simply by changing your physiology.
How then can we change our emotional states with NLP?
We use these two powerful resources involving both aspects ... the body and mind:
1 - Physiology
It's like I said before, a powerful resource to change a state ... If you feel depressed, changing your posture, lifting the shoulders, looking up and "pretending" smile ... can change for a moment that emotional state ...
That is, if an inner state "annoying" that invades you can change the physiology, do something else with your body ... a gesture, a change in posture, smile, jump, watch a landscape, do some different movement, etc ... when it appears that internal state limiter.
2 - NLP technique:
NLP techniques are used by certain change of state resources, sometimes to interrupt a thought process and "move on" ...
In NLP therapy sessions, the patient makes a question out of context to "change state" ... for example asking the end part of the therapy, "what color is your pet" or tie ... more not have either ... The idea is to interrupt a pattern of thinking, so that the person can move to another state altogether.
The interrupt a pattern of thought we can apply for example, when we have a recurring thought or feeling ... that we "turn" in the head and "do not want to go" ...
In what situations can apply this technique:
Perhaps you had an argument or altercation ... and that happened a few hours ago and are still "mulling over" to the subject in your head ... you see pictures, there is still a feeling of anger or helplessness ... to re-experience it inwardly, breathe more agitated ... you posture changes ... hear the dialogue in your head ... well reproach you for having or not having said so and so ... and so on.
Re-experience these states, we get "free" ... have an effect on the health and quality of life, as the body "takes note" of this, it is affecting and deteriorating ... especially if this happens to us often.
