What to do before you quit your job to Start Your Own Business Consulting
Many are tempted to jump into a new business for all the wrong reasons. You may be tired of your boss, fed with the "system" or have great ideas you can implement your location. Each of these may be legitimate, but are not necessarily reasons to quit smoking for starting your own business, at least not before time. Do not use an emotional impulse or pulse responsive be the basis for your business. Rather, use the security and reliability of your current position to prepare for your future business consulting.
First of all, this is not an initiation to abuse or take advantage of your company present in any way. Consulting for success, alone or with a company, requires absolute integrity. This is the time to do your job to the best of your ability, but they start the preparations you need to do personally.
The first phase of preparation is to use an old term, build your rolodex. It 's time to get contacts, meet people and generally getting to know someone as skilled and reliable on the market. In the long term a successful business career is based on and enriched by strong professional relationships.
Work on developing the skills needed to make their business a success. These include networking, providing superb customer / client service, effective project management, budget and management fee, leadership, problem solving, self-starting, self-motivation and business development. All these features can be learned and demonstrated in your current position. If you lack confidence in these areas, strengthen your skills before being alone. Perfection is not required - just remember you now have the support system in your business this will not be available once you are alone.
Market research is necessary. You must identify your niche market. A thorough knowledge of the market and your place in it are essential. The conventional wisdom is to be highly specialized, so you can effectively target and reach those individuals and companies who need your services. There is no problem with multiple specialties, but would be more effective with a highly concentrated marketing effort. What is cheaper in the long run, and easier to reach, regardless of geographic considerations. This research, which may involve interviewing key people, can occur while you are still working.
The goal is to become a consultant in-house, which means to be your generator business and service providers. You are a center of influence, not only in your present company, but in the business world. Upon reaching the transition to your business is just a step away from your work and in their activities.
