Yahoo Web Hosting is a No Go for Beginners
Yahoo claims that Yahoo Web Hosting is for beginners. At the end of January I signed with Bluehost and realized immediately that they were too advanced for me and actually got my money back within three hours or so since I signed with them. On 1 February 2008 I started my very first web site with Yahoo! Web Hosting We. For all intensive purposes my first vintage. At this time I had ever helped anyone with a web site. I was real beginner.
Yahoo! Web Hosting Technical Writing has proved to be less accurate. I found at least 15 errors in their technical writing, I do know wrong ..... hours. When I applied their technology, examples of writing I did not know how often and how wrong their writing technology really is. I spent hours on things that were written in a bad way or another.
After my first mistake or two I would write the email technical support. Nine times I wrote their support e-mail. Four times they responded to my technical question. The answers came anywhere from 5 to 12 days of its receipt. Two of these responses did not address my question in any way. The other two were exact copies of the technical writing you can search in their help section. Now I understand their philosophy here. Normally people will not actually read the help section. I have done, and when I got nothing to help me accomplish my task at hand is when I emailed them. When I received a copy of the exact same information I had read, was of no use. Basically I'm talking about 0 for 9 with technical writing support via e-mail with Yahoo! Web Hosting.
After waiting three days or so my first half to Yahoo! Web Hosting e-mail support, I decided to call their tech support. I became impatient waiting for this initial e-mail to solve, which by the way, is one of my five observations that has never been answered by e-mail support. When I called technical support for the first time I had to wait a bit 'for a technology to get on the phone with me. I imagine that must have been busy that day in particular. I was wrong. It's normal.
I started checking to see how long it took for a technology to be with me on every call. I was curious because of substantial delays. I collected these data as I went, right now, for my personal reasons. One reason was that if I had to do something I wanted to know if I had time to call technical support Yahoo! Web Hosting. I kept record of 14 calls were in reference to only five different problems. I called three or four times to support the same subject, because I've got the answer I needed from the first two or three calls.
When a customer calls Yahoo! Web Hosting Support receive an automatic message indicating that technical support will be with you and that all calls are answered in order. Sometimes another automated message telling you that the average waiting time. From this point my average wait time for tech support to Yahoo! Web Hosting is over 56 minutes before speaking would actually live with a support representative. These are extremely long wait, but that is not because I am disappointed with Yahoo! Web Hosting, you believe that.
A terrible thing that happened is that one of these calls, I waited 1 hour and 36 minutes, and immediately after I made the technology to understand my question, my phone is dead. I had to reload and call again. Once you know the average waiting time is long, as I did, is a complete fiasco. I made sure that my phone was charged, my bad.
Of the 14 calls I received three very useful and correct solutions to my problem. The others were wrong or I have received no effort to answer my question. Sometimes I would get more bits of information a bit 'wrong, then actually understand my dilemma on putting together all the data I have received 3 or 4 calls to tech support. This occurred twice. No matter how it worked I did get five dilemmas resolved by 14 calls although the waiting time is a little 'discomfort.
An example of a group of less than precise answers, which lead me to try to understand my personal problem, was the site map. Vai help.yahoo.com and type in "sitemap" (not: site map) in the toolbar and seek help, and then click Search. This will take you to a page that has 5 to 10 responses listed. The first says: "How to build a site map," click on it. If you know the java script then you can look at the bottom of a sample script and you'll end up with two final by the end url set url. Because there are two final this url sitemap will never work.
I called their support four times on my sitemaps without knowing what these two url ends with java script, because I am a beginner. None of the four tech knew what my problem was and 3 said that they were not required to learn java script. The other, and obviously the last one, came on the phone after a short wait in yahoo technical support of 36 minutes, and he did not know. But she broke the seat for the next 1 hour 43 minutes I was always a response, conferring with other technologies that had apparently just near. I allowed him to access my File Manager, giving away my password at some point. I had 52 pages on my "sitemap", when it was done, there were only four main pages. Then I asked him if he had done the yahoo web hosting sitemap writing technology model exactly as written. He said "yes".
I did not bother to tell him he did not. I noticed watching his 4 page sitemap XML script that there was only one url at the bottom end of its screenplay, which did the job. Even though I was now without the other 48 pages, I knew where the problem was. I asked him what I should do to get my other 48 pages of this stored XML sitemap. He said to go into my file manager in the xml file and insert them at that point. Wrong! Luckily I knew it was wrong. You see you can not edit an XML file encoded the same file encoded HTML. You must save it as a file. Xml in notepad or another program that can, which has been rightly pointed to Yahoo! Web Hosting technical writing. Then load the saved. Xml file in the root directory.
In order to make it easier I just went back to my original code, which still had saved in a notebook, and deleted one of the url at the bottom end. I then re-saved as a file. Xml. Then I re-uploaded and it worked magically. This was an example of the most incorrect answers in writing and tech support call that I encrypted through work done. I could not get angry with that technology, although it was still quite wrong, because he tried very hard to help me and showed me the glitch, though he knew it or not. He did not just quit on me and say that he did not have to learn java script.
I know of many other errors to Yahoo! Web Hosting technical writing that you will find in the help section. Why not make light of these other answers are wrong because I want to be paid for them. You know, for as long as I lived, that these same technical writing bad it cost me. I'd be far ahead, that is when I really decided to start a website, if it were not for these errors to Yahoo! Web Hosting.
So I would not tell someone to sign up for Yahoo! Web Hosting unless all they wanted was to build an information website focused. If all you want to do is put a lot of free information on a site then it would definitely work Yahoo! Web Hosting. Technical support will not need too much for this, if at all. If you want to implement add-ons or do something out of the ordinary you have to know java script is so simple.
I currently have 2 problems that are unresolved. One is how to connect my site with Pay Pal. The other is my sitemap that keeps returning to the map of the original site of four pages. I contacted the hotline on the issue but not the Pay Pal site map. Phone support said I should write one. Php script and that did not need to know. Php scripting to Yahoo! Web Hosting Support.
This is what makes me mad, every single time. Here are some questions that Yahoo! Web Hosting should put in a survey questionnaire to collect data on this topic of beginner building websites.
1. How many beginners have heard about building web java script?
2. How many beginners java web building know what it is, if you have heard?
3. How many beginners build web knows that there is more than one type of java script?
4. How many beginners build web right know any form of java script?
5. How many beginners build web scripts being able to write html?
6. How many beginners build web know how to write php?
7. How many beginners build web to know if they are looking for errors in scripting examples?
8. How many beginners feel the construction of web technical support will be required to know the answers?
9. How many beginners build web expect answers from support e-mail?
10. How many beginners build web expect answers from support e-mail within 5 days?
11. How many beginners think that building web templates as does everything all the time?
12. How many beginners build web know what MySQL?
13. How many beginners build web knows how to manage MySQL.
14. How many beginners know how to build web mesh with MySQL. Php? I stand here as the average bear gets the point already.
Because of all the mistakes I found in writing Yahoo! Web Hosting Technical am very cautious and reluctant when we read their writing technique. Most are well written, but knowing a little 'is flat wrong, creates a strong tendency to be skeptical. I also took this philosophy to another level. When it comes to matters such as java script, Yahoo! Web Hosting gives a company a lot of free information, php.com. They have free information on all types of java script. I will not even go to their site and learn, I'll tizag.com instead. I have no idea if the Yahoo! Web Hosting offers a good or bad, because I simply do not trust them because of their close cooperation with Yahoo! Web Hosting.
A little advice to those who already use Yahoo! Web Hosting (1) Take their technical writing with a grain of salt. If it does not work at first, try again, if still not working telephone support (2) If the holder of the phone will even out as if I do not know, just end the call, then call back and cross your fingers you get a good compromise. They have some good phone technicians. (3) Never e-mail for support.
Yahoo! Web Hosting offers some very excellent services. I had the time easy to navigate through my site with their control panel and file manager. Their solutions site would be excellent for a beginner as long as the beginner is to build a site for reporting purposes. They have so many different models available that I can not see anyone not having a problem that the one liked best. This is true with Site Builder as well, which is what I use. Their e-mail editor is simple and easy to understand. In my opinion it all goes wrong at the point of adding extra, it is impossible and frustrating for a beginner who does not know web building different types of java script.
You may have noticed from some of the things I've written that i have some java script now. I also know all the answers to questions # 1, # 2, # 3 and # 12 and some of # 4, # 5, # 6, # 7. I only knew the answers to question # 1 January 31. With Yahoo! Web Hosting I'm a bit 'less ignorant when it comes to these things ....
