Short Distances
I remember when I was in high school literature professor told us students to inspire movie titles at the time of writing literary stories. Well, a year ago I heard the title of a book by Jack Heras IƱigo loved me because I feel poetic. This is the book edited by Coco, which is called "short distances". This time, like when I was in high school, taking inspiration from those three words to let your imagination and think about human issues.
Short distances. A metaphorical idea and elegant. Three words laden with symbolism in the language of relationships. How do you measure the distance between two people when the gulf heart to heart may be bigger than separating two continents? How goes the distance that separates us from the soul of another human being? Or what is more difficult ... how allowing someone else to discover our self from the proximity to power as a magnifying glass magnifies the virtues and defects as we strive to hide? The sages say that therein lies the true love in accepting the good and the bad in the other. However ... what about the fear that causes pride and arrogance? How is spits a mouthful of vanity that prevents peace?
It is not easy to close the gap in technological society. However, we all need to be heard in the depths of our being. Feel valued and recognized by the other. Building strong and solid interpersonal relationships. Giving and receiving. Maintain equilibrium in the balance of a heart that may be worn in time of disappointment, uncertainty and struggle. Travel to the heart of another human being is not the same as catching a plane to find a lost paradise in the middle of the ocean. The adventure involves approaching another person involves risk, sacrifice and effort. Words may surprise those who are accustomed to superficiality.
Short distances increase when sometimes we ourselves boycott because of a bad memory of the past. The miles become inches under a storm of doubt and fear. So ... the human being becomes a desert island where there is only loneliness and bitterness.
In the midst of this solitude, sometimes, you see the hope in the eyes of another human being. And again, there is the miracle. The miracle of life step by step, feeling that there are distances that fall through the floor and the contact of the skin and soul.
